Will the AI hype turn into tangible value?
I’m heading to the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas tomorrow! This will be my first time visiting the United States and attending CES, so calling me excited might be an understatement.
I love technology, especially the kind of technology that can either improve the quality of people’s lives, or give them more time to do the things they enjoy. I’m eager to see what innovations are on display at CES – I’ll be taking plenty of notes (and pictures) throughout, and will share them later in the month.
AI – Will the hype turn into value?
One topic that I’m keen to explore at CES is whether AI looks like it may be on a path to deliver meaningful value. While today’s AI capabilities are undeniably useful, they’ve come at substantial cost to both businesses and the environment. If you’re asking me now if I think AI has been worth the cost, I’d have to say no.
I’m hoping that those much smarter than I can articulate a path that results in some kind of “game-changing”, and genuinely valuable AI technology. Watch this space…
